The final step of the journey
Our sixth form department looks to strengthen the values our girls have already developed. Attention is firmly focused on helping girls seize all opportunities to achieve the highest academic standards, together with preparing them for higher education and the wider world.
Pupils are encouraged to take a leading role in a range of activities all aimed at helping them develop questioning minds, independence of thought, self-discipline and self-motivation.
The curriculum on offer in the sixth form is comprehensive, providing the opportunity to study new subjects at AS and A2 level. The excellent quality of teaching and learning continues, coupled with a shift towards encouraging girls to take responsibility for their own learning.
Thinking outside the curriculum
Our belief that an education is not complete unless it goes beyond the academic curriculum is reflected in the broad range of experiences that are open to the girls in sixth form.
Young Enterprise, public speaking, IT and counselling courses, as well as The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme at Gold Level, are just a few of the many exciting projects available. Work experience is also promoted through our strong contacts in a number of fields.
Continuous support to the end
Whilst our sixth form benefits from increased privileges and responsibility across the school, we believe that we still should have overall responsibility for each girl’s well-being.
Our successful tutor group system is maintained with the advantage of each girl being assigned her own personal tutor. This ensures close support at all times as both their academic progress and welfare are carefully monitored.
