The first step of the journey

This first step into education is often the biggest, as your child leaves the shelter of your home and starts her journey through school.

She needs warmth, care and understanding. We are well aware that children's needs vary enormously at this stage, which is why we allow each girl the time to develop at her own pace.

A caring environment

Our nursery is a gentle, caring environment - a real home from home. Emphasis here is placed on building confidence, independence and, above all, ensuring every girl’s happiness.

Children learn to interact within small family groupings of six or seven, each with their own member of staff to care for them. Gradually they will learn to work and play within a larger group, yet still retaining the support of their family grouping for meal times.

A family atmosphere

We encourage family involvement throughout each girl’s school journey. The warm welcome you receive here will encourage her to enjoy sharing her work and experiences with you.

The family, as well as children, have different needs at this point in their lives. We believe in providing flexibility as to how many sessions each pupil attends, and giving you the control to increase these sessions in response to her needs and the demands on your time.

The perfect preparation

There is always great excitement in the summer term as our older nursery girls look forward to starting school.

Before this point they will have already been taught regularly by our Junior School staff and visited school on many occasions - for classroom visits, concerts, plays, assemblies and charity events.
